Colours in Black in the Mumok Museum, Vienna: The Karlbox

Indian Summer in Vienna. What a treat this season. MuseumsQuartier glows in colours and Froyo, cake and coffee enjoyment outdoors makes me feel like living in Paris these days. Loving a colorful life in nature, fashion and art equally, made me truly excited to attend the KARLBOX presentation by Faber Castell in the MUMOK Museum in Vienna.

Dresscode: Black and White is one of my favorites at evening events, as most of my staple-pieces in my wardrobe are black and accessories often black&white. This makes combining a piece in a bright colour truly easy, which was not the case this evening. I just had to hints of colour: I decided on darkblue slippers, and a little red charm on my bag.

Arriving at the event I couldn’t take my eyes off the presenters beautiful dress by the Label MAJE on one side of the room on top of the museum, and on the other side the big glass front revealing the art exhibited.

That quickly changed, when the curtain fell, and the KARLBOX was revealed. I got the possibility to ‚touch and feel‘ the beauty of craftsmanship and result of the collaboration

Karl Lagerfeld X Faber Castell

A unique hommage to Karl Lagerfeld as well as an expression of the symbiosis between artist and tool.

After Countess Mary von Faber-Castell and her daughter Katharina opened the holy handmade box of colours, I had no more eyes for the lovely Catering in black and white delicacies or small talk. I was all eyes on the Karlbox in full excitement. The multifaceted artist and designer chose the most wonderful colourshades for the exclusive limited-edition box of 35o drawing instruments. And the idea to separate the tools by colour is just genius! The diamond point headed pins on the front make the closed box look so Rocker-Chic, like Karl Lagerfeld himself, and at the same time mysterious and elegant.

When I opened one of the magnetic drawers, that was the time, when my brain had no chance to force me, not to WANT that box. No way! Sales Start in Austria is today: Monday, September 19th, 2016. Wishing you luck, if you want to buy one. I saw quite some Twitter Updates that the Masterpiece is selling out very quick in other countries. Find more detailed information and pictures

    1. Thank you, Claudia for the lovely comment. Oh, yes it was such a pleasure to explore the beauty of this extraordinary collaboration. Happy that you enjoyed the post. Take a chance to visit a store in the city to see it live. Even, if not buying or needing this rainbow of colours, it is worth and pleasure to understand the point, why the different pens are sorted in that particular order. It all makes sense. A Happy Week to you too!
