You learned a few posts ago, what a Schanigarten is, or even visited a few of them already. Well this is one of the truly lovely ones in Vienna. I visited the little green oasis just yesterday. Located in a quiet street just around the corner of the ohh always sooo crowdy Mariahilferstrasse a few minutes walk from Westbahnhof.
The restaurant is one of my favorite casual dining points, because of its health-oriented kitchen. It is a gluten and lactose free restaurant, loved by vegans, vegetarians and likewise people, who enjoy meat from trusted organic farms. I like to recommend the place to viennese guests and tourists, when writing Your personal TravelSecrets for off the tourist-paths-Day-Plans.
My starter at my last visit: a vegetarian Summer Salad of organic radishes with peas, cherry-tomato, mint and sour cream dressing.
Viennese phrases to know:
Prost! = Cheers! | Zum Wohl = To Your Health!
My main flexitarian/paleo dish: A fillet of char with carrot puree and fresh herbs
a unique culinary idea that unifies health consciousness, wonderful taste, and hospitality
That’s how your raw meat power will look like:
Every meal is 100% GLUTENFREE & LACTOSEFREE
What I love on cold or rainy days: Organic red pepper Chicken with Viennese Nockerln (homemade noodles)
and not to forget: the homemade Lemonades!
My favorite dessert here: vegetarian Poppy seed noodles with homemade ice cream. Don’t miss Mohnnudeln, they are worth the calories!
And if you are lucky, you get a package of these cute jelly bear sweets before you leave:
