Where to Eat and Drink in ZADAR, Croatia
Finding a place by the sea to enjoy a coffee or cold drink along the coast of Zadar is easy. You will have dozens of possibilities between the Old Town and Kolovare beach, like Hitch Bar or Popaj, and all have free Wifi access to check what you are actually not missing when you can have a view like that, but it could help to synchronize your photos or update your friends on Instagram with your holiday pics, which is near to impossible with the public Zadar WLAN, eben if I think that this is a great free service for tourists.

Fresh food and water are never a problem as you have a big daily market in the middle of Zadar next to a big Konzum supermarket. I used to choose that option every day before heading outside for my long walks.

And then there are many small bakeries (Pekarna), who offer traditional croatian buns filled with that special kind of cheese (sir). Just follow the heavenly smell of freshly baked dough.

But where to go, when you are in the mood for a drink with a nice view? And you definitely have to try the local beer: Karlovačko, named after the city Karlovac.

For me it was quite easy, as probably the best Café to see and be seen was right in front of the Boutique Hostel Forum, where I stayed during my holidays. So, guess, where I wrote most of my blogposts? Yes! In the
Caffe Bar Forum

right next to the Sv. Donat Chathedral on the main shopping street Siroka, where you will also find the biggest liqueur store with the famous Maraška alcohol drinks (I recommend buying: Travarica).

The Bar shares the place with the

Callegro Caffe Bar, which offers delicious ice-cream.

Probably the priciest drinks, but the very best place to enjoy the famous sounds of the Sea-Organ (Morske Orgulje):

Caffe Bar BRAZIL.

I liked the place, even if it is nothing special. The service is friendly and the seats are comfortable. Most important: the drinks are served very cold. I stayed here for hours.

And now to something more difficult: the restaurants. Like every touristic town you will find tons of places who offer food. Most of the time you won’t find the right place by coincidence. I had a recommendation from home and was most happy with the famous place, which offers regional, seasonal and organic food and visited the place three times. Twice for a late lunch and once for an early dinner.

Restoran Pet Bunara

is famous for their homemade Fig Cake and Jam from the own fig farm, which I, of course, bought for home too.

If you consider visiting the place after 7PM, you should really consider an early reservation, as the restaurant is fully packed and people are waiting in line for a table: www.petbunara.hr

A very nice alternative is the

Trattoria Canzona in Stromorica 8

Don’t be fooled by the word Pizzeria. They serve great croatian meals and delicious wine too. Even perfect for families, when everyone craves for something different on their plates.

And if you are on a boat and wish for a nice place in the shades of white linen and trees, stop at Sakarun beach in the north of Dugi Otok Island.

Scream! A surprise holiday is waiting for me. So no need to be sad, that I spent just 6 days in Zadar. I have the feeling I will see even more red roof tops and ancient stones in the next days. We are heading to a childhood dream of mine. No, it is not New York, LA or Paris. Been there, done that.
