The area around the station Landstrasse – Wien Mitte has been an unfriendly dark place for a long time, which was replaced by years of construction sites. I couldn’t imagine that this would change any time soon. But what a surprising sight that was, when I visited the place last week. A specious Mall in ultra modern architecture invites to stay a bit longer than the few minutes to walk through, from one subway to another.
Well done! And so badly need for Vienna Tourists as WIEN MITTE is an important central transport hub with 10 public transport lines intersect here. Not to forget the CAT (City Airport Train) which goes directly to and from the Airport in no time. Now passengers can have a casual drink or quick meal in one of the lovely places.
One highlight for sure is the world’s biggest Vapiano right on the corner of The Mall Wien Mitte.
Carefully designed by architect and Interior Designer Matteo Thun with the central role: the old Olivetree, which makes you feel like having a short holiday during your lunch break.
The opening hours allow to shop casually without any rush after work at the new shopping center in the middle of Vienna:
Monday to Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday to Friday: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
And the Restaurants score with generous opening hours 7 days a week:
Monday to Wednesday: 9a.m. – 11p.m.
Thursday to Saturday: 9a.m. – 12p.m.
Sunday: 9a.m. – 10p.m.
I think I will use that as an additional excuse in the future to stop for a break, when having to change from the U3 to the U4 or going to the airport.
