Before leaving the city, crowded with tourists, for our yearly Greece holidays, I want to share with you some highlights of last years Santorini Vacation.
I travelled the first time with Blue Star Delos and felt a bit like a child. Totally amazed about the big ferry, I explored all 8 floors and didn’t sit most of the time, while my daughter – completely unimpressed – read a book in a very cold air conditioned room in front of a window.
A crazy habit of mine (I have to admit) is to revisit all hotels where I stayed before, even if just for a few minutes. So here my 3 recommendations for Santorini:
The Vulcano View Hotel was the place, where I stayed 15 years ago, when I visited Santorini the very first time. It was the most charming hotel with a marvelous view. Today it is still an oasis of calm and a perfect sanctuary for complete relaxation and serenity but with even more comfort and luxury than in the past.
Hotel Atlantis, right in the middle of Thira town with a feature for people who don’t want to use their watch because of daytime rules. Breakfast is served around the clock. Isn’t that a thing I have to love? The only thing I miss a bit is a bigger pool and because of that we chose another accommodation last summer.
The El Greco Resort is like a little town right before the center of Thira. Everything is perfect there, but please just don’t eat in the hotel except a snack at the pool bar. It was one of the worst hotel-breakfasts I ever had and the island has so many places where you can have a really tasteful dinner including an unforgettable view.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday start!
