Until February 26th, 2012 the Albertina presents an exhibition of René Magritte. More than 150 works from every creative phase of the artist, retracing Magritte’s artistic career. The exhibition examines the connection between the artist’s paintings and his work for the advertising industry as well as the influence of pop culture.
I have been looking forward seeing his paintings every time I visited a museum in a foreign country like MoMa or Tate and hoped to travel to Belgium one day to explore the Royal Museums of Fine Arts – the Magritte Museum, but now I had a great opportunity in my hometown! The Collection is huge and the paintings are life time changing, at least for me. Having a passion for Typography and Papercutting as well as for clouds and water, how could I not love Magritte?
‚The Art of Conversation‘ is one of my favorite paintings, not only because it depicts the word ‚Amour‘ (french: love), but it has so many details which I Love most in my life too.
Another surprise was the Surrealism – Gilbert Kaplan Collection. I didn’t expect so see so beautiful Man Ray pictures that day.
And last but not least, the scarf. As I always try to match the theme of the scarf with the occasion, it gets sometimes really difficult and time-consuming to find the right outfit. Winter is easier, because I mostly wear neutral coats. I chose H en Voyage from the Hermès SS 09 collection (70 cm Vintage Silk, video).
