When craving for french delicacies, I mostly visit the ‘French Corner’ in the 9th district, if there is no chance to get some special ingredients for my kitchen directly from France. Some time ago, I read on THE austrian reference for viennese breakfast, the blog: ‘Die Frühstückerinnen‘ about a small grocery store which sells mediterranean delicacies and wines. So I headed there during one of my short city walks, when I was in the neighborhood of the 4th district.
Countless small glasses full of french specialties stacked in discreet black iron shelves. In between 2 small bistro tables with basket chairs. And all that french attitude right in the middle of Margaretenstrasse, where you would expect anything but french joy de vivre.
Christine and Berndt from ‘Délices du midi’ also offer breakfast and dinner on demand for up to eight people and pay attention specifically to good quality of products, buy mostly from local farmers of their choice or even organic products.
I tried a marvelous Tarte au Citron with my coffee and was delighted by the taste and flavoring.
